Nissan IDX 510 Concept - Tokyo Motor Show

I can't recall when last we have had such a lot of discussions in the Group about Nissan / Datsun - perhaps with the planned release of the "new Datsun" when we were all dissapointed at the planned Datsun Go? At the recent Tokyo Motor Show 2013 Nissan (Datsun) unveiled a new concept (based on the previous P510 we all love) - the IDX Freeflow and the IDX Nismo Concept Cars.

The purest believe that this is a total waste of time and energy - there will NEVER be another Datsun 1600 SSS - why don't we just slap on the latest technology onto the original model. Why try and reproduce a classic, an icon in motor vehicle history.

Original Datsun P510, with BRE Styled Datsun in the background. LEGENDS!

BUT: The more I look at the Nissan IDX NISMO 510 Concept, the more those lines are growing on me. Perhaps its the nostalgic BRE Styled approach... Perhaps the usage of all those Carbon bits, or the 19" Inspired rims. Call me mad, but I like it.

Take into account that these vehicles might never see the light of day (in production). We might never see it on the roads... It might not be released in proudly South Africa. Then, a concept ride is there to measure people's reaction, for a vehicle manufacturer to "test the waters" so to speak. Many adjustments could be made to the vehicle, loads of intricate bits 'n pieces could dissapear for the sake of a "more cost effective vehicle" in a specific bracket. Who knows?

We can discuss the matter for the next few years... For now, I'll just enjoy the pictures that's available - and treasure my 1971 Datsun P510 I currently own! I might even steal some styling queues from these Concepts!!!   (^^,)

And the end of the day - Its ALL ABOUT DATSUN - and its ALWAYS GOOD!
